Empowering Student Voices: Join Nayanta University as a Writing Studio Tutor!

Are you a passionate educator with a knack for fostering confidence in communication? Do you believe in empowering students to articulate their ideas with clarity and impact, regardless of their background? Nayanta University, a dynamic new institution in Pune, Maharashtra, is seeking a dedicated

Writing Studio Tutor to join its innovative Communications and Writing (C&W) programme.

About Nayanta University: A Vision for Holistic Education

Launched by prominent Indian industrialists associated with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Nayanta University is committed to interdisciplinary learning and equipping students with skills for the real world. Their philosophy extends beyond technical knowledge, aiming to cultivate critical thinking, empathy, and multi-perspective problem-solving in every student. The university is building a diverse student body, nurturing their talents to build impactful lives.

The Heart of Communication: The Writing Studio

The C&W programme at Nayanta University is a long-term engagement for undergraduate students, designed to be a differentiator for the institution. The Writing Studio is a crucial component of this vision, acting as both a "safety net and makerspace" for students. Its core philosophy sees "remediation as empowerment," where challenges are viewed as opportunities for customized coaching, not as deficiencies. This supportive environment ensures every student, regardless of their first language, can thrive in a course that values curiosity and growth.

Your Role as a Writing Studio Tutor: Shape Minds, Build a Program

As a Writing Studio Tutor, you'll have a unique opportunity to directly influence individual students and contribute to the evolution of the C&W programme itself. Nayanta University is seeking empathetic, sensitive, and self-motivated professionals who enjoy working with young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • One-to-one Coaching: Diagnosing language or genre-specific challenges and providing individualized support.

  • Small Group Coaching: Identifying common difficulties among students and running targeted "clinics."

  • Design & Delivery: Developing short, data-driven micro-curricula to address recurring learning needs.

  • Learning-Process Tracking: Logging anonymized patterns to inform C&W faculty teaching and pedagogy.

  • Inclusive Practice: Cultivating a welcoming makerspace atmosphere that encourages peer-to-peer learning and erases remediation stigma.

  • Collaboration: Liaising with C&W instructors and faculty across disciplines to ensure aligned support for student learning.

  • Building the Writing Studio: Actively contributing to the enhancement and implementation of the Writing Studio's design.

  • Administrative Responsibilities: Maintaining records and assisting with programme activities.

Who We're Looking For:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Master's degree in any discipline.

  • 2-3 years of experience tutoring ESL/EFL learners, ideally in a university writing center.

  • TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated skill in creating stimulating and supportive learning environments.

  • Strong ability to instruct and assist learners with English language usage.

  • A good understanding of process-based, metacognitive writing pedagogy and responsible integration of generative-AI.

  • Excellent MS Office skills, interpersonal communication, and cross-cultural understanding.

This is a part-time position (3 days per week) located at the CDSA Campus, Bavdhan, Pune, Maharashtra 411021. As the University grows, so too will the Writing Studio, offering exciting future prospects.
